Dr. Mohammad Amiryousefi, Director of Scientific and International Cooperation at the University of Isfahan, emphasized the importance of internationalizing universities to achieve scientific authority, expand knowledge boundaries, and enhance the soft power of nations globally.

Speaking at the inauguration of the “First Comprehensive School on Tactics and Techniques for Internationalization and University Ranking Enhancement,” Dr. Amiryousefi highlighted the significant investments governments have made in recent years to internationalize their higher education systems and improve their global rankings.

He noted that internationalization plays two crucial roles: increasing governmental power and generating wealth. By engaging in international activities, universities can attract global audiences for their educational, research, and technological products, thereby generating revenue.

Dr. Amiryousefi stressed that internationalization has gained special attention in recent years, necessitating participation in global ranking systems. To make universities attractive to international researchers and to have their opinions recognized worldwide, it is essential to improve their standings in reputable ranking systems.

He pointed out that countries like China have made significant investments in internationalizing their higher education institutions to achieve their current global status. Similarly, universities in Indonesia have comprehensive plans for internationalization and ranking enhancement.

Despite the high potential for internationalization in Iran’s higher education, recent rankings do not fully reflect these capabilities. Dr. Amiryousefi called for clear policies, a thorough assessment of strengths and weaknesses, and the development of a comprehensive internationalization strategy to improve the global standing of Iranian universities.
