University development, research and networking on disability counseling. International cooperation project between six universities in Iraq (Dohuk and Kufa), in Iran (Shahrekord and University of Isfahan) and in Germany (the HAW and the University of Hamburg).

The three-year project on counseling in areas of activity related to disability work brings together various disciplines to form a close cooperation network: psychology and psychotherapy, special education and social work, counseling and university didactics. The network pursues three central objectives with the project: (1) Based on an intensive interdisciplinary discussion of current educational and psychological theories and concepts on counseling for people with disabilities and (2) a comparative reflection on practical and organizational models for the implementation of counseling structures in the three countries, should (3) work together on the further development of higher education didactics in the existing special education and socio-pedagogical and psychotherapeutic courses of study at the participating universities in order to integrate the development of professional skills in counseling there. The project also planned a relatively large number of measures on Inclusive Language, Cultural Awareness, Gender Sensitivity and Intercultural Communication. All universities work with local networks of people with disabilities.
