How to Apply

Guidelines for the Participation of Faculty Members and Students of the University of Isfahan in Erasmus Pulse Programs
This document outlines the procedures and mechanisms for faculty members, non-academic staff, and students of the University of Isfahan to participate in Erasmus programs, facilitating exchanges between universities and institutions of higher education across Europe and other parts of the world. Participants establish connections with their counterparts at foreign universities, sign Erasmus Pulse program contracts, and can engage in academic and non-academic exchanges, with funding provided by the European Union.
"Faculty members who participate in the faculty exchange program, depending on the type of contract, can engage in teaching, conduct workshops, or deliver educational-research courses during the specified period outlined in the contract at foreign universities. In this case, faculty members not only do not incur expenses but also receive funding for their travel and accommodation from the European Union. They can utilize scholarships, projects, and local opportunities during their stay at the host university.

Similarly, students from the University of Isfahan can benefit from the Erasmus Pulse program by studying abroad for a duration of 3 to 12 months. This experience allows them to enhance their scientific, communication, language, and cross-cultural skills, enabling successful entry into the job market. Through short-term courses at European universities, students can take advantage of the program’s benefits and opportunities.
Volunteers participating in the Erasmus Pulse program will receive funding for round-trip tickets and accommodation expenses at the host university. The amount of these low-cost expenses depends on the cost of living in the host country and the distance between the two locations.

Exchange of Faculty Members:
1. Faculty members who sign an Erasmus program contract are committed to both mission fulfillment and the dispatch of at least one of their students. Note: The allocation for dispatch includes all faculty members and students of the University of Isfahan.
2. The contract liaison officer is responsible for public communication within the university, providing necessary documentation, and scheduling the receipt and dispatch of individuals.
3. Faculty members applying for Erasmus programs must negotiate and follow up on securing the mission and engage with the host educational team at the destination university.
4. All requests are submitted to the Erasmus specialized committee within the specified timeframe, and upon approval, introductions to the host university will be made.
Note: The Erasmus specialized committee includes core members such as the International Director, two invited representatives from the policy-making council, and an invited member from the internationalization committee.
5. Faculty members who apply for and are accepted into the Erasmus exchange program are granted a short-term research mission. To this end, the individual must officially declare their final acceptance through the university’s automation system to the relevant department and faculty. If approved, they will be referred to the Deputy for Research.
6. The mission duration, as specified in the contract, includes the research period plus an additional two days for travel.
7. Each faculty member or student can participate in an Erasmus program only once during the contract period.
Note: Special cases may be considered with approval from the university leadership.
Student Exchange:
1. Students have the opportunity to study abroad within the framework of this program for a minimum of three months (or one semester) and a maximum of 12 months (or two semesters). Financial support from the European Union covers a six-month period.
2. Interested students can explore the list of partner universities in the Erasmus contract and submit their preferences.
3. Requests are reviewed by the contract liaison officer, and final selections are made by the Erasmus specialized committee.
4. The approval process involves the relevant department, faculty, and the university’s educational deputy.
5. Approved study leave requests are processed through the international collaboration office.
6. If possible, students should choose courses that can be directly credited toward their home university’s curriculum.
Note: For students, it is advisable to select courses that allow for direct credit equivalency at the host university.
In Case of Non-Equivalence of Credits:
7. If credit equivalency is not possible, interested students can still participate in this program by going on study leave to a foreign university. After completing the coursework without credit equivalency, they can return to the University of Isfahan. The university’s educational deputy will facilitate the necessary arrangements and reception for this program, following military service regulations and allowable study leave years.
8. Students must hold a valid English language certificate (such as IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent) with minimum required scores specified in the Erasmus contract.
Note 1: If a student does not possess any of these language certificates, the university’s language center can arrange an English proficiency test for them. The University of Isfahan English Proficiency Test (UIEPT) is administered periodically, and details can be found on the Language Learning Center’s website at ir.ac.ui.ulc.
Note 2: In exceptional cases, with approval from the contract liaison officer and after a personalized interview with the student, a confirmation letter regarding English proficiency can be issued by the International Collaboration Office.
9. Only doctoral students are eligible to use the Erasmus Plus program. To qualify, they must meet the following criteria:
- Successfully pass the comprehensive exam.
- Have an approved thesis topic.
- Attain a general English language score.
- Be no later than the seventh semester of study.
- Obtain consent from their supervisor in the relevant department, communicated to the International Collaboration Office.
Note: For doctoral students, research articles within the framework of academic research opportunities can be used as part of the program.
